I was wondering if my profile was still open. Anyway, just thought I'd create a post and see how many people notice.

Nintendo's Wii U Event

GeekOut with Marley: Wii U Special

Reggie is the one who knocks

Tonight at 8:00 PM PT, you can listen to Marley's reaction of Nintendo's Wii U event that happened at 7 AM PT. Be there, or be square.

Edit: For those of you that missed this episode live, you can now listen to this episode on-demand.

Nintendo Finally has News on Wii U

"Nintendo of America has announced a release date for Wii U in the United States, and it's November 18. It doesn't launch in Japan until December 8, but Nintendo launched the original Wii first outside of Japan, too.

There are two sets. The basic set includes a Wii U, Game Pad, AC adaptor, HDMI cable, sensor bar and 8GB of memory. The "deluxe" set also includes 32GB of memory, a Game Pad charging cable, Game Pad cradle, a copy of NintendoLand, and enrollment in a premium service on Nintendo Direct, where you earn points for each purchase and can redeem them later for other purchases. The exact details are unclear.

The big question? Price. It's $299 for the basic set, and $349 for the deluxe set.

As for big game announcements, Nintendo is publishing (funding?) Bayonetta 2 with Platinum Games, Monolith Soft is making a new game, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is coming to the platform, and there's a new Monster Hunter. Well, "new." Monster Hunter Ultimate (Monster Hunter Tri G U in Japan) is based on the 3DS game, and the save data will be interchangeable between the two platforms. It's available at launch in Japan, and March everywhere else.

Wii U Boxart Design Revealed

Canadians don't like to play around. Amazon Canada is getting right to the point by releasing what appears to be official boxarts for both Assassin's Creed III and an Avengers Wii U game. We're not sure if the curved top is going to be the final design standard for every Wii U game, but it seems very legit.

Personally, I don't like it (it's too Gamecube-esque for my tastes), but for Assassin's Creed III that won't be a problem, I already have my box picked out and I'm currently waiting for the game.

Wii U Pro vs. XBOX 360 Controller

No, I'm not even joking. It looks as if Nintendo nicked the 360 design and swapped the right stick with face buttons and vice-versa.

This E3 is about to get interesting...

Here it is folks, the entire Pre-E3 video, courtesy of Joaquin (he's a really cool guy, by the way).

Nintendo Shows off Wii U Social Features

Very impressive, Nintendo is now moving into the future; To bad these features might kill off people who write or record walkthroughs.

Nintendo Announces Miiverse

We know very little about the horribly name Miiverse that Nintendo announced this afternoon, but from what I can see from this picture; Nintendo's online is going to be far superior than the Nintendo WFC on the Wii. I am very excited to see more of this.

Wii U Controller Re-Branded, and Re-Designed

I like the layout of the Wii U Gamepad much better than the prototype version. It seems like it will be more comfortable to hold, and the addition of actual thumb-sticks is always nice. There is just one thing I am curious about, and that is what is that button underneath the Directional-Pad. Oh well we will find out soon enough on June 5th, 2012 at 9 a.m.

Joel McHale likes the 3DS

This is one of the best promotional videos I have ever seen, and it is only being promoted by the best comedic actor to live on planet earth. Hope Joel McHale does more of these videos with Nintendo, and is on stage with Reggie Fils-Aime at E3 2012.

Whatever Happened To The Wii Vitality Sensor?

Do you guys remember back in 2009 when Nintendo announced it was working on a new peripheral, dubbed the Wii Vitality Sensor? I somewhat do. I mean, I wrote a What If on the damn thing. But whatever happened to the little sensor that got no love? I think it might have been mentioned at Nintendo's E3 2010 conference (I honestly have no idea) and it seems that the peripheral has completely fallen off the face of the earth. So what happened to it?

Looking for answers, I stumbled onto this article in which Iwata told investors that the Wii Vitality sensor has a lot more work and perfection ahead of it because they were shooting for a reading accuracy of 99%. I can imagine the difficulties in producing a highly accurate biological sensor at a cheap price and at a profit. Other than that, there's still been no mention of actual possible uses, and developers don't seem to be interested in the thing either. With the Wii U on the horizon, I really don't think the Vitality Sensor will ever be released before the Wii U hits the market next year. If anything, Nintendo will carry over most of their work to the Wii U and eventually release some sort of skeleton application for the Wii.

Actually, now that I think about it, if the Wii U controller will allow for peripherals of its own, the Vitality Sensor could probably have more success and better accuracy as a Wii U exclusive peripheral. A less-cheap Vitality Sensor would also be more expected of a console that is expected to cost more than the Wii did at launch, but be competitively priced against the 360 and PS3. So what will be the ultimate fate of this device? I have no idea, but it seems like it might just die off at any moment since Nintendo never mentions it anymore.

According To Crytek Wii U Is Very Powerful

In an interview with Crytek's Avni Yerli, in regards to their future support for the Wii U hardware, the co-founder of Crytek had this to say:
The specs are very good. It's a challenge for designers, but once thought through it can add value, and that's what [is] ultimately important. Our guys in Nottingham, they are very happy with their tests on the dev kits and they're excited about it.
I don't know about you guys but this sounds very good to me. Let's hope they can support a game at launch to really show what the system can do.
