Four years of podcasting have passed us faster than we ever thought could be possible. It's been fun getting here, and it'll be fun seeing where this goes. This week, Marley and I talk about the Wii U, Kinect on Windows, Vita sales, and more.
Today, Marley brought to my attention that the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) is supporting the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA), a law in the US Congress that wants to censor the Internet and limit free speech. The major supporters of the bill have been the RIAA and the MPAA, but recently, the ESA has also thrown full support to the fascist-like cause of SOPA and its sister bill PIPA. This is absolutely unacceptable, especially considering that the ESA acts as if it stands for all of gaming, which it most certainly does not. Thus, HearMii is announcing that we will join the others and will not cover anything at E3, unless the ESA withdraws its support from these bills.
We do not care if Microsoft unveils the XBOX 1080, or if Sony reveals that it's working on a Playstation that can outperform IBM's Watson, or if Reggie comes out on stage, set on fire and then gives everyone in the audience a Wii U and 2 3DSes, while proceeding to exclaim "I SHALL KICK THY ASS, AND TAKETH THY NAME!", we will not cover it so long as the ESA supports these bills.
I would post a link to Wikipedia for more information about SOPA, but they're protesting it with a black out, so here's a Google page about it instead: https://www.google.com/landing/takeaction/
The more and more I hear about the Wii U; the less excited I am for it. Nintendo has not said anything about this system. As soon as they announce the specs, price, and the launch games; I can careless about the Nintendo Wii U. Hopefully the Wii U won't be Nintendo's dreamcast.
Remember that this is just rumored and nothing is has confirmed this to be real yet, but if is it looks really really good and feasible. Check back here for more updates on CES and the event coverage this Monday.
